Reading for meaning
In Year 3, we have reading for meaning sessions three times per week. This is where we explore a text and consider it through using reading skills, known to the children are VIPERS. (see below)
Where possible, we link our reading for meaning texts to the topic or genre.

Wherever possible this year, our English curriculum objectives will be taught in a cross-curricular approach linked to our History and Geography work.
Our reading for meaning sessions will also, sometimes, link to topic themes but we also ensure children experience a range of texts and genres when reading and writing in Year 3.
