Important update for Parents & Carers
Dear parents and carers,
Just a quick update further to my letter sent on Friday 24th September and the positive case in year 4 advised yesterday.
We have been working with the Outbreak Control Team and the Local Authority today and yesterday to ensure that we are taking all the measures to ensure safety for our families.
The guidance below outlines when schools should take additional measures/precautions to limit transmission.
‘Contact OCH immediately if the below criteria have been met so we can discuss next steps.
For most education and childcare settings, whichever of these thresholds is reached first:
- 5 children, pupils, students or staff, who are likely to have mixed closely, test positive for COVID-19 within a 10-day period or
- 10% of children, pupils, students or staff who are likely to have mixed closely test positive for COVID-19 within a 10-day period.
For special schools, residential settings, and settings that operate with 20 or fewer children, pupils, students and staff at any one time:
- 2 children, pupils, students and staff, who are likely to have mixed closely, test positive for COVID-19 within a 10-day period
When the above thresholds are reached, education and childcare settings should review and reinforce measures they already have in place for:
- Ventilation ‘
As a precautionary measure we have already reverted to bubbles, separate drop off and pick up times and separate lunch and break times.
Staff continue to LFD test twice weekly and more regularly in the affected Year groups.
We are stringently keeping to our 7 hand washes per day and all rooms in the school are ventilated. Where we can complete activities outside we do so and extra cleaning is still in place.
Please note that staff may choose to wear a face covering whilst on duty and in communal areas.
Two of the cases come out of isolation today but we will continue with our precautions/extra measures until we are confident that the outbreak has ceased.
As you are aware many schools in the county are dealing with similar outbreaks as cases in the county rise. DFE guidance clearly states that closure of a bubble/year group would only take place if rates of staffing is so reduced due to the contraction of Covid-19.
In the meantime we should be grateful for your vigilance and where children display symptoms of:
- a new continuous cough
- a high temperature
- a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
That you arrange a PCR test and advise us of the results via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
