Year 1 and Year 2 words - at the beginning of the year we will test your child on the Year 1 words to check they can quickly and accurately spell them, before moving onto the Year 2 words.
These words are so important and come up again and again. Please continue to frequently practise saying, writing and learning these words at home. The children are expected to know how to read and write them by the end of the year and familiarity on a regular basis will help! Remember to Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check. Below is a printable chart for you to use. We would recommend you only focus on a maximum of 5 words at a time.
Spelling ShedOur school subscribes to Spelling Shed (click on link to left) and you will be given a log-in by your child's teacher. We set weekly spellings that focus on spelling patterns. We also have weekly 'Hives' which will test the children's spellings for that week.
PHONICS - Click on the document below to see a list of the letter sounds your child has already learnt (in Year R and 1). In Year Two we will work on building on this knowledge and learning alternative ways to represent these sounds.
