MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

 

Children learn French in small but regular doses in school. We use a range of strategies but mainly those based on listening and repeating, with a much smaller emphasis on writing. Children might reply to the register call in French, sing French songs, count and greet each other. As we go further up the school we use a variety of websites to support the teaching of topics such as weather, pets,  healthy foods or In the Town are introduced. Role-play and games such as picture bingo all help the children to experience French in a fun way. We also try to keep links with children in France or Canada, swapping letters and finding out about other countries, cultures and traditions.
